The 53rd and 55th Streets Hanging Basket Program

In 2015 the program was taken over by the SSA 61 Tax Commission.
In 2005, the University of Chicago is again, as in 2003 and 2004, paying half the cost and offering a 1-1 matching grant for the remainder. The baskets and contents have looked very attractive, even when filled with pine branches in the winter. Panoramic Landscaping this year plants and maintains the 86 baskets for $26,000. Plant materials per basket cost $50, a pair $150. Planting and care for a basket for a year costs $295, for a pair $590. a double (on one pole) costs $520. A project of the Hyde Park Chamber of Commerce and the South East Chicago Commission. In 2006 the baskets have again been planted.
Back Again for 2007 into 8- Flower Power. July is donation collection time- call SECC. SECC and Chamber of Commerce have contracted with Panoramic Landscaping to install 2 seasonal planting and water and maintain all the baskets on 53rd and 55th. Cost is $26,000.
